Jennifer & Jake at Charles Krug Winery

Charles Krug, one of the founding winery of the Napa Valley, is an idyllic setting for any wedding – even rainy day ones!

August 2016

I LOVED this family. I would seriously do this all over again! Even with the rain! I told the Mother of the Bride, Cathy, (aka the “MOB”) that I want to clone her to be ALL my MOB’s from now on. Her talents as an interior designer proved to be a big plus! I had such a blast creating this day with her for her daughter, Jennifer. Jen was as involved as she could be from Virginia. She was very laid back and let her Mom take the lead with all the planning.

Since “April Showers Bring May Flowers” – What’s Plan B, Charles Krug?

Try as it might, the rain couldn’t spoil this wedding. That’s clearly shown in the stunning images from Karey of Hazy Lane Studios.

The Carriage House at Charles Krug Winery provides a most elegant and stunning backdrop. The rain kept us from having the ceremony in the grove as we’d originally planned. As a result,  Charles Krug’s lower barrel room of the Carriage House was called on as “Plan B.” This proved to be a most excellent option for the ceremony. Jen’s uncle hand-crafted a nine foot tall chuppah (pronounced “HOO-pa”) from redwood boughs, and Liz from Enchantment Floraladorned it with beautiful floral elements and tule. This provided the focal point for the ceremony. Nate Lopez of Wine Country Entertainment provided tasteful classical guitar to accompany the nuptials.

The elegant dinner reception was held in the Carriage House’s Great Room. Certainly a stunner! This room boasts soaring vaulted ceilings and an expansive dance floor finished in old-growth redwood. The table setting design included pops of color set with eucalyptus runners intermingled with the tiny bright orange cumquats throughout. Emerald green water goblets topped off the settings. Against the redwood floors and hand-forged chandeliers, the result was a scene set for royalty.

It Takes a Village…

With this project, I got to meet and work with many new and amazing vendors. I welcome them to my list of A-Team members. From the delicious food and service expertly provided by Alex’s Catering, music from Wine Country Entertainment, and all the vendors behind the scenes that made it happen. The saying goes, “It takes a village…” Well, our “village” achieved our goal with happy clients – and a happy MOB at the end of Jen & Jake’s special day.

Rainy day weddings can be the best!
